Dec 26, 2009 Tom Clark "Boundaries"
Note:  There is a short gap in the recording at approx. 45 minutes.  The point being made is that brethren in Ghana have such low incomes that even after saving money for the Feast, they still require outside assistance.

Seminar - Families for God Weekend

"Do the Noble Thing"

It is not enough that the Christian life should be good: it must also be attractive. Christians are commissioned to win others over to God’s way. The NT describes a basic trait of the followers of Christ as "kalos, usually translated as "good’ or "honest." The word has a rich meaning: not just good, but over and above that - Lovely, gracious, winsome, generous, beautiful, pure, honorable, and noble. It is that which delights the heart and gives pleasure to the eye - that graciousness that inspires love and admiration and draws others to it.

The Bible gives us many examples (over 100) that are "kalos," and we all have been moved by heart-warming examples of service and sacrifice. Do you have a favorite that you would like to share? Let’s look at some biblical examples and trade some personally moving stories in this study of doing the "noble" thing.

"Woe Dude!"

What is your perspective? Can you identify what motivates your actions? In this interactive seminar we’ll start by examining a group of leaders in the bible. Then we’ll discuss how it relates to the "why" behind our attitude and actions. Could you be a modern day Pharisee? How can you tell? Don't be too sure. We’ll brainstorm what to do about it.

"Finances for Young People"

The economic crisis is hitting hard, and it will affect you. Will you be able to afford the things you need? Knowledge of sound financial principles is essential for you to navigate an economic crisis such as this one. In this seminar you will learn to recognize necessities versus wants, better understand the use of credit, and learn key biblical principles to guide your financial decisions. This information is vital for young people. Decisions and habits you develop now will affect your financial future. And being good stewards of God's blessings is important to our spiritual character development.

Sermon - Families for God Weekend

"How Does God's Spirit Help Us Do Hard Things?"

Through self-discipline and will power many people do hard things. However, for the Christian, doing hard things not only involves discipline and will power, it involves taping into the power of God - God's Holy Spirit! God gave His Spirit as His greatest gift to mankind. But too often we overlook or ignore the gift, depending solely on our own strength to do the hard things in our life. How do we tap into this great power that can help us accomplish the hard things in our lives?

"Reputation is the Shadow of Character"

Character is often difficult to define. In fact the word "Character" is not found in the Bible. However, it is referred to in many other ways and by other synonyms. There are many scriptures relating to the importance of reputation as a shadow of character. We will survey this important topic from the scriptures and discuss its relevance in our 21st century culture.
